Polian Says No Deal Immediately with Manning

Indianapolis (AP)-Bill Polian says the negotiations, Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning are ongoing.

Just do not expect the two parties reach an agreement this weekend.

"I would say that we are only moving at a steady pace, but nothing is imminent," Polian told The Associated Press on Wednesday after meeting with the competition committee of the NFL.

The meeting of the Competition Committee in Indianapolis as part of the NFL combine testing, which opens Thursday.

Manning’s deal is the Colts’ top offseason priority.

Team owner Jim Irsay said last week he had already offered Manning a deal that would eclipse Tom Brady’s record for annual average salary. Irsay did not provide additional details of the proposal, though he acknowledged Manning’s next contract cold be for five or six years.

Brady signed a four-year, $72 million contract in September, giving him a league record $18 million average salary.

Indy is already hedging its bets, too.

Last week, it put the exclusive franchise tag on the only four-time MVP in league history, keeping him off the free-agent market. Under current rules, Manning could not negotiate with another team, and if he plays under the tag he will make about $23 million next season.

Colts did the same thing in 2004 when they signed Manning, a seven-year, $ 98 million. Later, they give the franchise tag.

Polian hopes that something can be worked before the agreement of the League of collective bargaining expires at the end of March 3rd.

Manning would have the greatest impact under a salary cap again if there is one in the next CBA. But Manning is not the only player on the Colts' attempt to re-sign.

Indy list of potential free agents include Adam Vinatieri , the kicker of the best clutch on the history of the NFL, running back Joseph Addai , the beginning and the best blocking back, Charlie Johnson protector of Manning's blind side, Melvin Bullitt, which probably would go to the schedule from now that the Colts have released Bob Sanders of linebacker Clint Session and Starting defensive tackle Dan Muir.

Negotiations also began with Vinatieri, Irsay said last week, and Polian said the Colts presses throughout these negotiations.

"We're assuming he's going, and whether the changes that we have a plan," he said.

Colts are certainly not the passivity after winning an eighth title of the AFC South in nine years. Coach Jim Caldwell also hired two new coaches and teams that receive three overs.

E 'can also set a franchise tag on Manning, the Colts claimed defensive tackle DeMario Pressley off waivers from Houston on Tuesday and freed Sanders, 2007 defender in the NFL last week. Sanders had played only nine regular-season games after signing a five-year contract $ 37,500,000, after the 2007 season
.
Although it is unlikely Sanders will be back in a Colts uniform next season, Polian said Indy would be willing to bring it if he does not sign with another team.
"I do not know if I would classify it as an opportunity," said Polian. "It would be nice to see him, I can tell you."

Raiders Sign Seymour For Two-year Treatment

Alameda, California (AP) Oakland Raiders on Wednesday agreed on potential free agent defensive tackle Richard Seymour (known) is a two-year contract that includes $ 30,000,000 $ 22,500,000 in guaranteed money.

SI.com first reported the agreement, "said Seymour would have paid 15 million U.S. dollars over the next two years, $ 7,500,000 in 2012 guaranteed bonus. Raiders, does not confirm the agreement.

The Raiders gave New England a first-round pick in 2011 to Seymour before the 2009 season and owner Al Davis made it a priority to keep Seymour.

The deal gives Oakland to avoid using a franchise tag on Seymour for the second consecutive season. He earned approximately $ 12.4 million last season and was in line for a salary of about $ 14,900,000 next season with the roof. Instead, he signed an agreement that will keep him in Oakland for two more seasons.

"It 's a great place to play," Seymour said at the end of the season. "The fans are like others in the league. They are certainly committed and want the same type of players in this organization. The story is here, bringing the mystique, the silver and black are the Raiders, has been a dream of a life for me and I hope that continues. "

The Raiders agreed to acquire Seymour was questioned by some, because Oakland peaks have recently been as high in the project. With the Raiders have their best season since 2002, the Patriots are going for 17 in general the project in April.

"I can not believe it was a good job," Davis said last month. "I thought it was a great trade. Not yet."
Seymour was elected in his sixth season Pro Bowl last recording 5 1 / 2 sacks and anchoring the defense of Oakland after moving inside to defensive tackle. Seymour has been praised by coaches and teammates for his play and leadership on a unit that included two rookies in the seven before.

Seymour, 31, was three times winner of the Super Bowl with the Patriots and has 48.5 career sacks.
The Raiders have always done a good job keeping potential free agents, they do not want to test the free agent market. They have signed long term agreements in recent years with cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (notes), punter Shane Lechler (notes) and kicker Sebastian Janikowski (notes) instead of using the franchise tag.

Last Asomugha of $ 45,300,000, three-year contract was canceled earlier this offseason, when it fails to reach certain incentives, which makes him one of the many key potential free agents the Raiders.
Raiders can not use the franchise tag on Asomugha, so tight end Zach Miller is probably the recipient, if a team decides to use the extension.

Miller led the Raiders to receive for each of the past three seasons. It took 60 years for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season.

Other important opportunities for Oakland free agents are offensive linjapihdit Robert Gallery , running back Michael Bush , safety Michael Huff, cornerback Stanford Routt and defensive linjapihdit John Henderson.

NFL Betting: 2010 NFL Draft Betting Odds and Props

While the NFL has tweaked the format of its draft — the first round takes place on Thursday, the second to third on Friday and last four on Saturday — the basics remain the same and the worst team, the St. Louis Rams, will be selecting first.

Oklahoma Sooners QB Sam Bradford is being touted by many as the first-selection overall and seeing as the Rams have released QB Marc Bulger, there seems to be logic to that.

In a recent USA Today mock draft, an eight-analyst panel unanimously predicted that Bradford would be the player that the St. Louis Rams would select in the one-spot.

According to sportsbooks, Bradford is an overwhelming favorite to be No. 1 overall at -1200 and +550 not to be the top pick.

Checking online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com, the Sooners’ signal-caller is also listed at +500 to be the two-pick overall.

There was a movement to award last year’s Heisman Trophy to Nebraska Cornhusker defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Suh didn’t end up winning the award, Alabama’s Mark Ingram did, and wasn’t even the runner-up, that honor would go to Stanford’s Toby Gerhart.

He did benefit from the good press, as he was considered a potential top-pick overall until recently, when Bradford seemed to pull ahead.

Suh is also a possible No. 2 overall, according to a number of 2010 mock draft’s, and is currently listed with draft odds of -410 to be just that.

Offensive linemen are hugely underrated and one of the top hogs, according to many mock drafts and analysts, is Oklahoma State’s Russell Okung.

All accounts have the Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs, who select fourth and fifth overall respectively, very keen on Okung. The odds have the former OSU Cowboy at +150 to be selected second overall.

Tennessee Volunteers strong safety Eric Berry is a player that some say is a Top-10 pick and he is -200 to be taken sixth to ninth overall, +140 to go between 1-5, +300 to go between 10 and 12, +700 to 13th or higher.

Besides Bradford, another quarterback being mentioned is Notre Dame’s Jimmy Clausen.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Clausen was asked what he would say if he were asked by an NFL team why they should draft him.

One of the reasons, Clausen said, was because he played in a pro-style offense while playing at South Bend and says he won’t travel to New York for the draft but will rather spend time with his grandfather.

The former Charlie Weis student is -150 to go between six and nine in the first-round, +130 to go 10, 11 and 12 overall, +200 to go 13th or higher and +1000 to go in the Top-5.

One of the most intriguing draft prospects is Florida Gator QB Tim Tebow.

There have been some that say that Tebow won’t be able to cut it as a pivot in the NFL.

Furthermore, in a now infamous video clip, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says Tebow won’t ever take the field.

According to the betting odds, Tebow is most likely to be selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, at +150, and -200 to be a second-rounder.

There is plenty of intrigue going into this year’s NFL draft it should be exciting for those who are betting on all the NFL draft props at NFL Betting.

NFL Playoffs 2010 Betting Tips

After watching the wild card games over the weekend I noticed something you need to keep in mind when you do some NFL football Betting this up coming weekend. Every single team that actually advanced to the next round had one thing in common, they were able to run the ball effectively, but I wouldn’t expect it to be a major factor in the rest of the playoffs.

All the winning teams this weekend were able to run the ball and outgained their rivals in that department, something that at first looked overrated, especially if you consider that this has become a passing league. NFL Live Odds on NFL 2010 Playoffs at Sportsbetting.com

For example, in the first game of the weekend both teams ran a total of 171 yards, the Jets beat the Bengals because they were able to establish the run first and then got some room for Mark Sanchez to make some key plays. As you can see, the main factor was the run.

The same thing happened in the Dallas - Philly game, the Cowboys outgained the Eagles 198-56 in rushing yards, they ran the ball and tired out the opponents defense using good ole’ old school football.

The New England – Baltimore match was a perfect example on how a playoff game was played back in the day and how you should face an opponent in cold weather. The Ravens crushed the Patriots in the running department, 234 rushing yards against 64; they were able to bag an easy win. Check out NFL Live Odds on NFL 2010 Playoffs at Sportsbetting.com

John Harbaugh knew that in this weather throwing the ball was going to be a bit hard so they decided to go through the ground, and with two really good backs like Rice and McGahee it was a safe bet.

Now before you go and start betting for the team with the best backs, there is one major factor you need to keep in mind the rest of the way to the Super Bowl. The weather it won’t be a factor anymore. Make your bets with NFL Live Odds on NFL 2010 Playoffs at Sportsbetting.com

Three of the upcoming 4 games will be played in a dome and the other one will be during warm weather, so we can expect matches with big passing games.

The reason people say that you have to run the ball this time of year is because of the cold weather that directly affects the passing game, it’s something that we are going to see only if Baltimore and New York knock out San Diego and Indianapolis and the chances of both teams advancing don’t look so good.

Also consider that the four top seeded teams have huge QB figures and their offense relies on the passing game. Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers, Brett Favre and Drew Brees all had over 4,000 passing yards in the regular season. Do you think a rushing offense will be a factor against a team that could strike you with a long TD any given play? I don’t think so. NFL Live Odds on NFL 2010 Playoffs at Sportsbetting.com

All of them also have plenty of playmakers in the receiving department and tend to make very few mistakes throwing the ball, all reasons why you shouldn’t expect the run to be a major factor this week.
